Process Engineering Analysis
Expertise in all forms of power generation, pollution control equipment, desalination processes and various other advanced processes is available within TRAX to bear on client issues and problems. Typical processes include large utility boiler turbine cycles, combined cycle/heat recovery steam generators, pollution control equipment, advanced power cycles, gas pipelines, waste water treatment plants and desalination plants.
TRAX simulation tools, ProTRAX, are used to analyze process designs. Simulation results combined with cost and risk analyses allow designers and end users to make well informed choices of alternatives that minimize the life cycle costs and maximize life cycle profitability of a complex process. Cost analyses are extended beyond the conventional capital and operating cost analyses to include costs of operator errors, equipment life expenditure and inefficient operation. As power plants are upgraded and modified, the effects of changes on safety and life of the plant must be evaluated. For example, the affects of pollution control equipment on the integrity of the boiler under severe transients can be extremely expensive if the system is improperly designed. TRAX performs many different and unique analyses that help utilities and design engineering firms make informed decisions about complex technical issues.
Control System Analysis
Advanced control system logic can solve a number of process induced operating problems. The design and analysis of complex control systems is achieved using practical, state of the art control schemes. All new control systems designed by TRAX are validated against a dynamic simulation of the target process or machinery to ensure all functions have been properly implemented. Once the control logic is designed and tested, it can be implemented by TRAX engineers in any of a number of control vendor’s hardware, such as Emerson, Foxboro, ABB, Allen-Bradley, etc.
Software Development
TRAX Systems Development software engineers design and implement a wide range of software programs from small single user utility programs to large comprehensive engineer programs. Specializing in custom software development for a wide spectrum of engineering and business applications, many programs feature complex data base driven engineering design tools, process simulation tools, convenient user-friendly data input systems, Web based operations and tools, and industry standard interfaces to all types of hardware, control systems, and application programs (e.g., COM, ODBC, OPC, HLA). Custom applications are developed in various languages (e.g., C/C++, Java/Java Script, Fortran) depending upon the application needs.
