Logistics Support

TRAX International Corporation provides comprehensive logistics support services nationwide. At each location, we tailor our services to meet specific client needs. TRAX people excel in blending experience with innovative approaches to meet the needs of Government Services Administration (GSA), Department of Defense (DoD) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) clients. Our services include highly complex support contracts providing the full spectrum of logistics services for institutional, DoD range and space flight project customers.

Supply Operations

Through the use of Oracle-based databases and customized applications, TRAX provides an Inventory Management and General Ledger Accounting system that supports an interlocking menu of supply options ranging from stores stock maintained in the TRAX operated warehouses and just in time (JIT) delivery of office supplies, to one-of-a-kind procurements of complex space flight hardware and components. Our integrated Supply Operation includes procurement, inventory management and accounting for stores stock warehousing, just-in-time direct deliveries and direct turnover of specialized materials including space flight qualified hardware.

Management of Technical Hardware and Components

TRAX project supply support operations include the ISO9001-compliant management of institutional, space flight and engineering parts. These include electrical, electronic, electromechanical and mechanical items; and one-of-a-kind acquisition of project-specific items. We also manage and provide specialized warehousing of electrostatic discharge sensitive items and long-term storage of inactive project related equipment.

Warehousing and Just In Time Supply Operations

TRAX provides supply support for a wide variety of customers both at NASA and DoD. We accomplish this through direct contract support as well as a system of interagency agreements. Underlying these operations is a support infrastructure of requisition processing, inventory management, commodity control, acquisition, research and cataloging, receiving, delivery, and warehousing. TRAX minimizes physical inventories by implementing JIT next day delivery of office supplies and rapid turn-around, direct delivery procurements of both off-the-shelf and custom-produced material. Warehousing operations cover stock, dedicated storage and specialized warehousing tailored to the requirements of the material being stored.

Transportation, Freight Traffic Management and Packaging

Transportation services span the full spectrum of local, national and international material movement services: routine pickup and delivery, processing of United States (U.S.) Postal Service and express shipments, and international shipment of space flight hardware supported by temperature/shock/vibration instrumentation, which is subject to complex import/export regulation.

Export Control

TRAX export specialists provide direct support to hundreds of international shipping customers by reviewing scientific and technical information, equipment shipments, and foreign national visits for compliance with export regulations including International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations. This is a high-intensity effort keyed to provide near real-time support to a wide variety of project customers who must work effectively with a world-wide network of research, development and production partners from both the government and academic sectors. There is a close connection with our transportation and shipping mission that typically processes hundreds of export and import time-critical shipping actions on an annual basis.

Packaging

Our packing and crating operation is uniquely staffed to provide more than container fabrication and packing. Our in-house staff includes a degreed mechanical engineer and a formally certified packaging engineer, each with over 20 years of experience in a variety of aerospace missions. As a result, the packing and crating is deeply involved in container design, shock and vibration analysis, compliance with international shipping regulations, and shipping of unusual hazardous material (HazMat).

Maintenance and Dispatch of Fleet Vehicle and Special Purpose Equipment

Functions range from basic maintenance of general purpose fleet vehicles and specialized equipment including U.S. and foreign military equipment and HazMat qualified vehicles. In addition, these vehicles and equipment are dispatched for pickup/delivery/temporary vehicle loan operations and specialized material movement support for military test and space flight customers.

Logistics Engineering and Planning

TRAX provides the full spectrum of transportation-related logistics support including movement planning at all stages of project and test design, development and deployment. This includes mechanical engineering design of shock/vibration/environmental control systems during physical world-wide movement of one-of-a-kind space flight hardware from assembly locations to launch and test sites. These material movements range from containerized shipments prepared in our organic packaging shop to movement of oversized material over the road or by air, depending on project requirements.

Property Control, Inventory Management and Disposal

TRAX performs equipment control for accountable property and management of a disposal program at the Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA Headquarters using a variety of automated systems. These are customer-intensive activities designed to ensure life-cycle accountability for controlled equipment valued at over hundreds of millions of dollars at our various locations. Our disposal program processes controlled and uncontrolled equipment for reuse and Stevenson-Wydler and EO 12999 donations to educational institutions, state and local governments. In addition to compliance with regulatory requirements, we operate a Web based retail sales program, auctions and scrap. At the Goddard Space Flight Center, this is a function that pays for itself by generating an average of $225,000 in annual revenue. In addition to primary customers, our disposal process supports reimbursable customers from other Government agencies such as Homeland Security and Department of Agriculture.
