Engineering Simulators

A TRAX-built engineering simulator brings virtually unlimited analytic capability to the engineer's desk with a unique combination of features optimized for today's systems.

Dynamic Simulation

Since 1987, the TRAX product development group has focused on creating transient analysis simulation models that can be used effectively by engineers with little or no simulation background. These dynamic models can be built to represent a small system or your plant as a whole, or anything in between. These dynamic models can be used to analyze any type of control, operational or equipment problems. They can also be used to examine plant startups, shutdowns or emergency operations. Furthermore, ProTRAX dynamic models can all be run to steady state providing data that rigorously complies with all conservation laws.

TRAX provides several options to best meet your needs:

  • Our engineers can build a dynamic model to your specifications, run through the transients of interest, and deliver a final report detailing the transient results. We will also deliver the dynamic model to you and show you how to run it.
  • Our engineers can build a dynamic model to your specifications and deliver it to you. Your engineers then use the model to examine the transients of interest.

ProTRAX as an Analysis Tool

While the potential uses for desktop dynamic simulation are virtually unlimited, some of the more common uses include:

  • Plant design
  • Examining plant operating characteristics, including startups and shutdowns
  • Control system design and analysis
  • Plant behavior in emergency situations (trips, runbacks)
  • Evaluation of operating procedures and the plant's response
  • Impact of equipment modifications
  • Plant troubleshooting
  • Process or controls optimization
  • Plant repowering
  • Control system tuning

Our ProTRAX models are built for the engineer who understands the process but does not necessarily have a simulation background. The following features demonstrate the power, user-friendliness, and versatility of the system:

  • Unattended automated analysis
  • Multiple run capability for control system tuning
  • Dynamic plant schematics at runtime
  • Trending and Post Plotting numerous variables simultaneously
  • Robust full range process models
  • Convenient interface to external programs
