Test Range Engineering Services

TRAX International Corporation has provided test range engineering services to Government test facilities and ranges for over 20 years. Our methods and processes have continually improved to meet the changing technology needs of the client. Engineering services focuses on design and management of technical factors that form the basis for accurate and useful test data.

Test Engineering and Development Engineering

TRAX provides continuing or long-term support in the performance of Test Director functions to design, coordinate, plan, execute and prepare reports for programs to test military equipment. This group provides basic professional engineering services involving planning, design, environmental assessment, hazardous material training and remediation support, construction, alteration, and testing related to electrical, electronic, optical and mechanical engineering fields. These services are executed according to established procedures or instructions in support of test range instrumentation development activities. Development engineers work closely with project, engineers, test engineers, researchers, aircraft and artillery test crews in the design and development of test range instrumentation systems. Development engineers ensure that the systems will meet the demands of the testing environment.

Design and Development of Mobile, Fixed Station and In-Flight Data Instrumentation for Telemetry, Range Timing, Radar, Ballistics, Automotive, Lasers and Air Delivery Systems

In support of operation and maintenance of test range instrumentation, TRAX develops, modifies and installs transducers, data-collection instrumentation, transmitters, antennas and signal conditioners on aircraft, munitions and other test platforms. To support data analysis of test data, we also develop data reduction and video scoring systems. We provide the full spectrum of engineering to support operation and maintenance of high-speed optical systems, radar systems (e.g., Wiebel, MPS-25, FPS-16, MPS-36, and modified Hawk), time code generators, timing receivers, global positioning system (GPS) receivers, monitors, RF transmitters and antennas. TRAX engineering also supports air delivery testing including the rigging, maintenance and recovery of developmental air-drop platforms and parachute systems.

C4I Systems Test Engineering Support

Through our NEWTEC joint venture, TRAX software and hardware engineers, high-level electronic and engineering technicians and operation and management (O&M) professionals provide comprehensive electrical, electronic, communications and instrumentation design and implementation for the Army’s multiple locations for the Electronic Proving Ground. Core capabilities include distributed systems, GPS/navigation, frequency spectrum modeling and management, TEMPEST/Electromagnetic Compatibility/ Electromagnetic Interference, system performance, environmental, and software engineering test support.

Human Factors Engineering

TRAX fields a capable human factors (HF) team. It is one of the foremost and well-trained in the Army, with experience spanning from the mid-1960s through the present in environments ranging through artic, desert, and tropic regions. Frequently called upon and experienced in conducting extended assignments to remote locations with all required HF metric equipment (e.g., sound level meter, photometers, toxic fumes detectors, shock and vibration). HF engineers work closely with the customer and test personnel to meet Program Manager test parameters, ensuring the equipment end user is well served and has received the best input from our experienced team.
