Tropic Regions Test Range Services

The TRAX International Corporation test support capability is truly global in scope. Tropic regions impose unique challenges to systems, operational doctrine and personnel. Our capability to support testing in that environment is based on an exceptionally experienced core of professional technicians and managers who understand these challenges. We place a heavy emphasis on the human factor elements of mission effectiveness and support a variety of clients to achieve their evaluation objectives.
Tropic Regions Exposure Testing
TRAX tests systems in representative conditions of temperature, solar radiation, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, altitude, air salinity, jungle canopy coverage and bunker storage. Items to be tested can be located in a varying degree of environments, all within a 50 to 70 mile area. Through the use of standardized meteorological stations, the customer receives a detailed printout of environmental conditions during the length of the test. Our test engineers are experienced in ensuring that independent parameters are relatively constant, thereby providing valuable data to the testing program.
Chemical/Biological Detectors
Both man-portable and vehicle mounted detectors have been tested in Tropic Regions. Decomposition factors in the jungle environment have, in previous tests, identified false positives in critical chemical/biological detectors. Tropic Regions test engineers have assisted Program Managers in overcoming this difficulty and recommending courses of action to improve the equipment including redesign for more robust and reliable systems.
Chemical/Biological Protective Systems
TRAX engineers are highly experienced in analyzing and conducting protective systems tests. These systems undergo tropic storage followed by suitability tests, with careful and detailed analysis conducted by our team of engineers. Test results are compiled, analyzed and reported. Tropic Region’s expertise in this field has been well documented; our engineers are sought after for their attention to detail and analytical acumen despite the laborious element required in this type of work.
Individual Soldier Systems Test Engineering
TRAX provides invaluable assistance to Program Managers during testing. The team has the capability of writing the test plan, executing the test, documenting test incidents and drafting the test report based on the Test and Evaluation Master Plan. Tropic Regions Test Center has the engineering knowledge and experience to support developmental, and operational testing. Our experienced teams have been called upon to support tests in arctic, desert and tropic Regions. Tropic Regions has two MANPACK portability courses, one in Hawaii and one in Panama.
Communications and Electronics Systems Testing
TRAX provides support in extreme tropic conditions and natural topographic features, coupled with a varying degree of jungle foliage to provide one of the most demanding communication and electronic environments. Remote sites with reduced or zero spectral electronic interference are readily found within a 20 to 30 minute airplane or helicopter jump. Our test engineers are prepared to provide any support required, and may be United States (U.S.) citizens only, should the test require it.
Geographic Information System
TRAX engineers work to develop Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology used for scientific investigations, resource management, logistics and surveys in support of civil work and military activities such as site characterization and environmental testing. Currently, the GIS crew is creating a worldwide database consisting of maps showing environmental data, use of land, vegetation, resources available, topography, population, hydrology, climate and others, in order to provide physical and cultural reference on specific sites such as MANPACK trails, firing ranges and test locations.
